Our Creative Coding feature, in partnership with Vidcode, takes a project-based approach to the teaching of coding. It gives students a way to show what they know about a given topic - regardless of curriculum area - by coding their own projects using BrainPOP assets. We introduced the feature with four project types - Meme, Stop Motion Animation, Doodle Augmented Reality, and Newscast - with more to follow.

Creative Coding was designed so that students and teachers of all subjects, even with little or no coding experience, can jump right into a scaffolded project. Creative Coding projects can be completed within one class period or extended for deeper exploration. Our hope is that by positioning the coding feature on our topic pages - at the point where a typical lesson would begin - we will underscore the importance of coding as a legitimate and valuable creation tool on par with posters, dioramas, slideshows, and the like. To support teachers as they begin to implement coding lessons, we also offer a range of support materials.

BrainPOP’s Computer Science & Coding Collection offers movies, games, lesson plans, and other resources to jump start your computer science and coding lessons.

Starting in August 2017, BrainPOP will offer a free collection of Digital Citizenship resources available, including animated movies, movie making, coding projects, and other features across topics including Computer Programming, Ada Lovelace, Computer History, and Digital Etiquette.
