The C-STEM theme is Live Smarter 2.0: The Age of Automation and Artificial Intelligence. Our focus will be on preparing for the arrival of a society that demands both a high degree of technological acuity (which entails an understanding of the concepts of artificial intelligence, climate change, and automation) and an intrinsic motivation to strive for increased efficiency in the economic, social, and cultural aspects of life.
Computer Science is a tool that acts as a foundation for all the work that is being done these days. At companies like Boeing, Amazon and Google, computer programming (coding) enables people to connect the world, create modern wonders, and tell stories.
Live Smarter 2.0 is an introduction to what has been called the “The Age of Automation and Artificial Intelligence”, in which automation will begin to take precedence over human work on a larger scale. For example, robotic systems are being equipped with machine learning, giving them the ability to optimize their work with less direct human supervision. However, these systems are not out of reach for the average person. Learning how to code is an important step for anyone looking to utilize automation themselves. Automation is a complicated concept to work with, but by eventually moving from basic scripting to more advanced development, a person can understand the strengths and weaknesses of it. In doing so, they will be able to more effectively apply it to the work that they want to use automation for.
