The Congressional App Challenge is a Congressional initiative whose mission is to inspire, include, and innovate efforts around STEM, coding, and computer science education.
Each year, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives host district-wide Congressional App Challenges for middle and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science. This year, over 300 Members of Congress will host a Congressional App Challenge in their districts.
The project invites students to create and submit their original apps for a chance to win the Congressional App Challenge. Each challenge is district-specific. Each participating Member of Congress publicly recognizes winning teams and each winning app is put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. Following each challenge, winning teams are invited to Capitol Hill where they demo their apps to their Member of Congress at a celebration called #HouseOfCode.
