The mission of FIRST NYC is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. FIRST NYC organizes project-based robotics competitions for 4,000 students ages 6-18 across four different programs here in New York City: FIRST LEGO League Junior, FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge and the FIRST Robotics Competition.
