John Jay College of Criminal Justice | City University of New York (CUNY) offers a robust pathway into the field of cybersecurity. The college’s offerings support students at every stage – in high school, in college, and during early career. For example, at the high school level, John Jay offers NYC public school students a paid, full-time summer program on campus, and during the academic year, students attend co-curricular cybersecurity seminars on campus. At the college level, John Jay offers a major in Computer Science and Information Security. In collaboration with the Cybersecurity Workforce Alliance, the CSIS major offers credit-bearing virtual internships led by industry professionals. At 5 CUNY community colleges, computer science majors are enrolled in the CUNY Justice Academy, a joint-degree, dual-enrollment program that allows students to seamlessly transfer into John Jay’s CSIS major. Finally, college students and recent alumni participate in an array of cybersecurity-specific career counseling programs. Through working with students, John Jay faculty and NYC public school teachers are engaged in intensive professional development led by cybersecurity professionals and pedagogical experts. John Jay college students are also engaged in paid opportunities to work as teaching assistants in both high school and college programs.
