Miami EdTech® is an education technology non-profit on a mission to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within today’s educators. Our mission and vision are operationalized via three primary programs. Made possible through a recent grant from Microsoft, EdXpert trains Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) K-12 educators to integrate culturally-responsive computer science teaching into classrooms. Through a full-day workshop, we demystify CT, practice project-based learning strategies, and create lesson plans infused with these principles. Our inaugural EdXpert session included 48 teachers, 75% of which were teachers of color. We’ve received frequent feedback that participants’ knowledge of the technology landscape significantly increased during the session, while also making computer science more accessible for participants.
Substantiated by a flourishing teacher-tech-centric ecosystem and mutually beneficial cross-sector partnerships, Miami EdTech envisions a world where innovative technologies redefine education with real-world, scalable solutions. Leveraging bespoke programming – including Miami EdTech Accelerator, Social Innovation & Entrepreneurial Leadership ‘S.I.E.L.’ Incubator, and EdXpert powered by Microsoft – Miami EdTech and its partners work to address systemic challenges in education, provide a means for today’s educators to turn their tech-enabled solutions into successful enterprises, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in computer science education.
