The mission of the Newtown Public Schools, a partnership of students, families, educators, and community, is to INSPIRE EACH STUDENT TO EXCEL in attaining and applying the knowledge, skills and attributes that lead to personal success while becoming a contributing member of a dynamic global community.
The district seeks to expand computer science opportunities K-12 to spark early student interest in CS, consistently engage students through concept-based curriculum and hands-on learning, and provide a depth of understanding that supports student achievement in college and career. Currently, Newtown High School offers AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, and courses on Java and Web Design. Newtown Middle and Intermediate Schools both have computer integration rotations that provide some exposure to coding.
