Project Lead The Way provides transformative learning experiences for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S. We create an engaging, hands-on classroom environment and empower students to develop the in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive. We also provide teachers with the training, resources, and support they need to engage students in real-world learning. We believe all students – beginning at a young age – need access to computer science and we partner with districts and schools to inspire K-12 students and prepare them for long-term success: PLTW Launch (K-5) taps into students’ exploratory nature, engages them in learning that feels like play, and encourages them to keep discovering – now and for years to come. This program has 6 computer science modules and the opportunity to access all 24 modules, which span biomedical science and engineering pathways as well. PLTW Gateway (6-8) illuminates the range of paths and possibilities students can look forward to in high school and beyond. PLTW Gateway’s two Introduction to Computer Science units emphasize mobile computing and crowd and cloud sourcing. Students discover the principles of computer science, using creativity and collaboration, and the iterative nature of design. They continue to explore the stimulating career path of computer science as they venture into text programming and apply their skills to solve real-world problems. PLTW Computer Science (9-12) engages students in collaborative projects that help them develop in-demand computer science knowledge as well as transportable skills like creative thinking and communication. The program includes four courses: Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Science Principles - endorsed by the College Board, Computer Science A – aligned to the AP CSA framework, and Cybersecurity – available fall 2018. These courses are part of the AP + PLTW CS pathway, a partnership with the College Board to encourage student participation in STEM degrees and careers.
