I’m hosting a K–12 Hour of AI in the United States

The Hour of AI is a national and global campaign helping schools introduce students to artificial intelligence in a fun, approachable way. It’s designed to spark curiosity, build understanding, and show that anyone can learn about AI. This guide takes you step by step through planning, hosting, and celebrating your Hour of AI event with ready-to-use activities and classroom tips.

Register Your Event

Start by registering your Hour of AI event. Registration helps us track impact and your school may be featured on our website! You’ll also receive helpful tips, updates, and exclusive resources to make your event a success.

🏫 District Tip: Save time! Registering as a district lets you capture all the schools in your community with one simple form.

Choose your activities

Explore student-friendly, engaging Hour of AI activities in the catalog, which will go live on November 12 — from music and dance to games and pop culture. There’s something for every age and interest, whether you’re working with devices or going unplugged.

🏫 District Tip: Share the Hour of AI activities catalog with your teachers! The catalog includes activities across different subject areas — making it a great way to engage your entire district.

Plan and Prepare

Pick a time that works for your classroom — Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8–14) is a popular choice, but the Hour of AI can happen anytime throughout the year.

As you prepare, here are a few ways to set your event up for success:

  • Choose a space that fits your students and available tech

  • Run activities with or without computers

  • Preview the activity and teacher guide so you feel confident (available Nov. 12)

  • Decorate with posters and build excitement

  • Invite the community to join in with email templates

🏫 District Tip: Encourage your teachers to explore the adult-facing activities in the catalog and join any lead-up events so they can do some learning of their own! Bonus points if you share with parents or guardians!

Host and Celebrate

Kick off with this inspirational video, then let students dive into their activity!

Celebrate their efforts with stickers, shout-outs, and by sharing photos using #HourOfAI and tagging @CSforALL to highlight your classroom’s creativity.

Keep going!

Don’t stop at just one event. Bring AI literacy to your classroom year-round with curriculum and partner resources. Coming soon: Beyond the Hour of AI resources to support your whole community.

From the Hour of Code to the Hour of AI

You might be asked how the Hour of AI connects to the Hour of Code. Here are a few ways to explain it:

  • The Hour of Code helped show that anyone can learn computer science. The Hour of AI does the same thing for artificial intelligence — showing that anyone can learn AI literacy, too.

  • Just like the Hour of Code made coding less intimidating, the Hour of AI helps students go from just using AI tools to understanding how they work — and how they can shape the future responsibly.

  • The Hour of Code built a global community around computer science education. The Hour of AI builds on that momentum, extending the mission to include AI education for both students and adults.
